Monitoring Impact of USDOJ Cole Memo Rescission

The Attorney General’s Office is monitoring for any concrete impacts or harms on Washington residents caused by the federal action earlier this month.

On January 4, 2018, United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a memorandum rescinding prior guidance from the Department of Justice to United States Attorneys outlining federal priorities for the enforcement of federal statutes relating to marijuana.

Washington State has not made any changes to its state medical marijuana program, but is monitoring the impact of this federal action on Washington residents and welcomes your comments.

If you or other licensees or applicants are experiencing any effects following U.S. Department of Justice’s rescission of the Cole memo, such as but not limited to:

  • loss of investors
  • loss of leases
  • decrease in sales
  • loss of bank accounts
  • increase in cash transactions
