On June 8th, special guest speaker Trecia Ehrlich will present Identifying Employee Health Concerns in a 'Growing Field;' An Employee Needs Assessment of Cannabis Grow Operations in Washington State, The presentation will report the results of a qualitative research study on the health and safety concerns of cannabis farm workers. The research utilized a Community Based Participatory Research framework in order to center the voices of cannabis farm workers and upper level management in directing future research. Topics covered range from environmental exposures and respiratory health concerns, to social exposures including crime and gender related health outcomes. A byproduct of this research was the identification of a variety of social and geopolitical factors affecting the integration of this unique commodity into a legal economic marketplace, in ways that will continue to affect both producer and consumer health and wellbeing.

Trecia holds a B.S. from UC Davis' College of Agriculture where she studied Community Development with an emphasis in food systems and farming, this research serves as her thesis in completing her Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington's Community Oriented Public Health Practice Program.
