Member Spotlight – June 8, 2017

It’s time to appreciate a couple of our members, we are calling this our: Alliance
Members Appreciation Moment.

Each month we highlight one of our long term members and welcome one of our
new members. As your Alliance Membership Director I believe in community,
connection and networking and I am adamant that we all get to know other
Cannabis Alliance members a little better, so we can support each other and learn
more about each member, their passion and their business.

We are more powerful when we join together ! And besides you never know who
you might want to meet!

Long-term member: Ah Warner, Cannabis Basics

The History:

In 1994, newly pregnant Ah Warner knew that life would never be the same after
she walked into the Fremont Hemp Company, realizing the possibilities for
creation and production were limitless. 1995 saw the birth of her daughter,
Darienne Zoa, along with an overly ambitious catalogue of hemp products she
called Cannabis Creations, which included candles, stationary, hand-dyed yarns,
fabrics, handcrafted pillows, and even a line of hempseed goodies called
Incredible Edibles. Meanwhile, she rolled up her sleeves and began researching
the therapeutic benefits of blending hempseed oil with healing botanicals and
essential oils. As her first potion, Ah made a Lavender and Tangerine Massage oil,
still prominent in the now Cannabis Basics line-up. Ah formed a team of friends
and mentors to help with the expansion of her line of health and beauty aids.

Over the following years, Cannabis Creations Body continued to gain momentum,
winning industry awards and features in major publications. With the support of
alternative retail stores and mail-order catalogues, her fledgling company
experienced organic growth.

Although moderately successful, Ah found that sourcing pure ingredients for her
products became difficult and risky. The healing advantages, of cannabis-derived
topicals, were overshadowed by the lack of education and an immature market.
With a growing family, Ah realized that the risks were too great. In 2005, after ten
years of producing natural medicine, she reluctantly suspended production, took
several part-time jobs and vowed to continue to be an active cannabis-industry
supporter.

Ah’s entrepreneurial spirit was rekindled when a friend asked her to help open a
medical marijuana access point near her home in Seattle, Washington. Ah Warner
jumped back into her kitchen lab and began to reformulate and redesign her
original formulas, focusing on the healing fundamentals of the pure and natural
cannabis flower. Happily, the company officially reopened its doors in 2012. Since
then, her line of award-winning topical therapies has been reborn into the
company that you see today.
